    The Chinese guardian lion is the protector of the Buddhist faith. It is both a symbol of Chinese imperial power and the ineluctable force of Buddhist doctrine. In this Buddhist Lion crouching lively playing with a wisdom pearl, the creature is entangling with a rolling scarf pierced through for varied size cord holes. In contrast to the pronounced spine and finely incised parallel lines on its bushy tails, the highly polished nephrite jade has an unctuous sheen that marked its years. The carving is both tactile and intricate, with robust strength compacted in a very lovely toggle.
